This is an INDIVIDUAL coursework assignment. There are three blocks to this module and your task is to develop and focus upon a relevant case study and to identify and apply the appropriate financial model studied during the respective block. Where possible, support your case study with the use of an Excel spreadsheet. As a theme for your case study, you should use the Education Sector. This assessment considers the work delivered during BLOCK 1. Use your model to assist you to investigate and analyse the relative strengths and weaknesses. Using the information you find, you are then requested to prepare a report demonstrating your ability to critically evaluate and to reflect upon, the performance of your model as an instrument of policy to assist the decision making process. Your reflection is worth up to fifty percent of your final mark for this assessment. Your reflection must contain information relating to how you would re-address and re-submit your work using a different approach or perspective, how you formulated your ideas for your original work, what methods you used in your research, what library references you found useful, how confident you are in your model etc. etc. Note, this list is not exhaustive. Submit a hardcopy of your work to the Learning Resource Centre and an electronic copy of your work into the CW1 Turnitin Box contained on the UGB317 SunSpace site. Any work submitted must adhere to the University policy on cheating, collusion and plagiarism. Assessment criteria: Demonstration of .. 1. Relevant and suitable research into the topic (plus evidence and bibliography), 2. An ability to relate the financial model to a relevant case study, 3. An understanding of the financial model, 4. An ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the financial model, 5. An ability to identify the optimal points of notable interest, 6. An ability to sum up, conclude and recommend the application of the financial model based upon the quality of the strengths and weaknesses found, 7. An ability to reflect upon the financial model and the work undertaken, 8. Presentation and quality of the report. A ’third class’ pass will be awarded providing there is suitable evidence relating to the demonstration of an ability to understand the fundamentals, concepts and structure of the relevant financial model. The demonstration should also display evidence relating to an understanding of how the fundamentals, concepts and structure combine to form a successful financial model to help the policy makers. Limited presentation, research, critical analysis, reflection and reliance on guidance. A basic understanding! A ‘second class (lower)’ pass will be awarded providing all aspects relating to a ‘third class pass’ are addressed plus, there are reasonable attempts to address all eight points above. A ‘second class (upper)’ pass will be awarded providing all aspects relating to a ‘second class (lower) pass’ are addressed plus, there are good attempts to address all eight points above. A sound depth of structured, critical evaluation and reflection of the model is expected. No reliance on guidance. A good understanding! A ‘first class’ pass will be awarded providing all aspects relating to a ‘second class (upper) pass’ are addressed plus, there are excellent attempts to address all eight points above. An all round performance of high quality, including an exhaustive and extensive researched depth of structured, critical evaluation and reflection of the model. No reliance on guidance. An advanced and exceptional understanding. Hint: This assessment can be likened to a jigsaw puzzle. The financial model itself is the completed jigsaw puzzle.
